Hello everyone,
Welcome back to the Weekly Wisdom Wrap-Up! This week, we're exploring about Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Ilya Sustkever’s new company, Apple X OpenAI Partnership, WWDC’24 and Many More…
Claude 3.5 Sonnet
(Source: anthropic.com)
Anthropic, an A.I. startup founded by former OpenAI engineers on June 20 released Claude 3.5 Sonnet, its most powerful A.I. model yet. The new model is not only twice the speed of its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, released just three months ago, but surpasses OpenAI’s GPT-4o across numerous reasoning, coding and visual comprehension measurements, according to the company.
The web and app version of Claude 3.5 Sonnet will be available at no cost. Meanwhile, Claude Pro and Team plan subscribers will be able to access the model with higher rate limits. This move follows a standard set by OpenAI, which launched GPT-4o earlier this year for free and with greater capabilities for paying users.
Despite Claude’s impressive results, A.I. model benchmarks shouldn’t be taken too seriously as a measurement of capabilities due to skepticism regarding their narrow focus and inability to convey how average individuals interact with models.
Safe Super Intelligence(SSI) - Ilya Sustkever
Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and former chief scientist of OpenAI, recently launched a new AI startup called Safe Superintelligence (SSI). Here are the key points:
Mission and Focus:
SSI aims to pursue safe superintelligence directly, with a singular focus on building advanced AI that surpasses human intelligence.
Their entire product roadmap revolves around safety, security, and long-term progress, insulated from short-term commercial pressures.
Team and Offices:
Sutskever is joined by Daniel Gross (formerly overseeing Apple’s AI and search efforts) and Daniel Levy (formerly of OpenAI).
SSI has offices in Palo Alto, California, and Tel Aviv.
Background:
Sutskever was part of OpenAI’s Superalignment team, which focused on steering and controlling AI systems.
He left OpenAI in May, along with Jan Leike (who joined rival AI firm Anthropic).
OpenAI X Apple
Apple and OpenAI have recently announced an exciting partnership. Here are the key details:
Integration of ChatGPT:
Apple is integrating ChatGPT (powered by GPT-4o) into its ecosystem.
Users on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS will benefit from ChatGPT’s capabilities, including image and document understanding.
Siri can also tap into ChatGPT’s intelligence when needed.
User Experience:
Users are asked for permission before sending questions, documents, or photos to ChatGPT.
Siri presents ChatGPT’s answers directly.
ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools to assist users in generating content.
Users can also use ChatGPT’s image tools to create images in various styles.
Privacy and Safety:
Privacy protections are built in: requests are not stored by OpenAI, and IP addresses are obscured.
Users can connect their ChatGPT accounts, applying their data preferences.
Availability:
The ChatGPT integration will roll out later this year.
Users can access it for free, and subscribers can unlock additional features.
This partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone.
